WORK EXPERIENCE:

FSA is an independent body that regulates the financial services industry in the UK. As a member of the Economics of Financial Regulation department I am undertaking and advising on market failure analysis and cost benefit analysis with respect to FSA policy making.
Within the economics team, I am specialising in competition impact assessment with respect to FSA regulatory activities. I also manage the relationship with the Office of Fair Trading and the Competition Commission and provide training on competition policy to the FSA staff.
As part of my work, I have been advising on the mortgage market review, retail distribution review, product regulation, payment protection insurance (FSA and CC inquiries), retail banking, packaged bank accounts, bundling and tying, credit rating agencies, modelling of the banking sector in the UK, the Independent Commission on Banking proposals (ring-fencing and competition remedies), competition and financial stability, the Financial Services Bill and FCA's competition powers, FSB and IOSCO enquiries in shadow banking (securities lending and repos, CDS), etc.

The Centre for Competition Policy is the leading UK and European research centre in the field of competition policy and regulation. The projects that I have been working on include both theoretical and empirical research with the analysis of competition policies and industry specific regulations using a game-theoretic approach (including consultancy projects for the European Union, the World Bank, OFT, Competition Commission, DTI):
- Market modelling for antitrust decisions: theoretical & empirical analyses, simulations
- Analysis of remedies in merger regulation
- Analysis of the impact of electricity market reforms on competition
- Development and application of competition policies in transition countries
